Good budget hotels for friend visiting from Mumbai

My friend and his family (total of 6, 4 adults , 2 kids) visiting Mangalore and will be staying for 3 nights. Could you suggest a good budget / 3 star hotel ? What's your view of Deepa Comforts or any other better options? What would be the best itinerary around Mangalore for 3 days ? Thanks for your inputs
