Rant about the Incident happened today
Today evening around 5 PM while traveling on Lady Doak College Road, I encountered an unfortunate incident. A Honda City car was parked in front of the Waalai restaurant, blocking a quarter of the road at the four-way junction near JC Residency. As I was passing by, the car's door suddenly opened, causing me to fall off my bike(Honda shine). The impact bent my bike's bumper and broke the side mirror. I have also suffered minor abrasions on both knees and severe abrasion on my left ankle, with pain and inflammation at the ankle. I asked the driver for his insurance details, but he refused. Initially, he begged for forgiveness, and when I asked him to cover the repair costs for my bike, he refused to give any compensation. It turned out that the car belonged to the owner of the Waalai restaurant. I went inside to speak with her(a lady in her 60s -70s), and instead of apologizing, she told me that I should be more careful and that such incidents happen daily(Their side mirror was already shattered before this incident) After this the driver also blamed me. I took photo of the driver and the car and called the Thallakulam D1 police station. I was asked to visit the station to report the incident. After explaining the situation to the officer for over half an hour at the station he refused to take any action, insisting that I was in the wrong and stating that no action would be taken for minor injuries like mine. The car owner already has two fines for obstrucTtion/illegal parking and two fines for illegal headlights. I am left in pain with no resolution, while they continue without any consequences. I’m deeply disappointed and frustrated by the lack of justice in the city. I think everyone should wear cameras while driving for our safety.3
