Basically every scammer and his distant cousin knows that if you go to a Malayali and talk in a semi-educated and authoritative manner, they will fall for whatever nonsense you are pushing and fork over their money. This “CSR Scam” is very interesting because it is basically people in positions of authority - local bodies, politicians, self-help groups etc - who have been scammed. There’s also the run of the mill scams like Fedex (“Sir we found drugs in your parcel from Taiwan”), digital arrest (the funniest one), lottery etc. We need to urgently educate our people, especially the middle aged population, before people start losing their homes and the future of their children.
