Information of public buses in Kannur

Hi, we are visiting Kannur for 2N3D trip. We will be staying in Bakkalam area. We are not very confident riding scooty in new place and thus we want to explore Kannur via public transport like buses and autos. 1. How do we reach Palakkaym Thattu? 2. To visit beaches we need to go mainland and that is around 17Km from our stay. Do we have frequent buses? 3. When can I find last bus from mainland to Bakkalam? Please help me out. Also, if more information is required please let me know. Any folks who might have done the same, please help us out. I just couldn't find relevant information on internet.
