Idukki Cocoa in Porto’s Chocolate Museum – What’s the Story Behind This Unique Chocolate?
While visiting the Chocolate History Museum in Porto, I stumbled upon this fascinating chocolate bar – a 71% dark chocolate made from organic cocoa grown in Idukki, Kerala. It's labeled as “La Féverie,” a French artisanal chocolate brand, and was crafted from bean to bar in Bordeaux. It’s amazing to see a Kerala-origin product highlighted in such a prestigious setting! However, two things caught my attention: 1. The **monkey illustration** on the packaging. Is there a deeper connection between monkeys and Idukki’s cocoa plantations? Or is this just an artistic choice unrelated to the region? 2. Idukki cocoa itself – what makes it stand out? Is it the flavor profile, the organic cultivation, or something else that makes it appealing to international chocolatiers? This has sparked my curiosity about the global appeal of Idukki’s cocoa. If anyone has insights into the uniqueness of Kerala-grown cocoa or thoughts on the packaging’s design, please share! Let’s shed some light on this sweet connection between Idukki and the world of fine chocolate. https://preview.redd.it/80rrg9kx0yae1.jpg?width=1030&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=68ff6f581c792b87e4f78298104adfe7eb8321c21
