Has not been able to eradicate ragging completely from campuses in Kerala: Sivankutty
Minister for General Education, V. Sivankutty, has stated that the complete eradication of incidents like ragging has yet to be achieved, but efforts are ongoing. He revealed that the department is considering the introduction of anti-ragging cells in every educational institution across the state. Despite the progress, ragging-like incidents continue to occur in some educational institutions, undermining the well-being of society. To combat this, stringent measures will be enforced, alongside awareness campaigns and grassroots interventions. Existing disciplinary committees are in place in schools, along with school counselling programmes and protection groups. The structure and functioning of these programmes will be reviewed by a high-level committee within the Department of Education, which will submit a report for further action5
