Has anyone faced issues with samsung refridgerators recently ?
We had purchased a samsung 324L 3 star inverter frost free double door refrigerator 4.5 years ago. About 2 weeks ago due an ice build up, the back of the freezer broke from the inside and freezer stopped working. The fridge is still working. I contacted samsung customer service and they sent a technician , he opened up the freezer(kuthipolikal) and poured hot water to melt the ice and checked it . Told that the water was not going down due to ice buildup and said that it might not be possible to repair it .He told that if the freezer is not repairable then we will be paid a sum of money as compensation from samsung. Later the main office contacted us and said that the refridgerator has lost 75% of its value over last 4.5 years even though the fridge part is still working. Furthermore they contacted today and said they will give a sum of 9K as compensation and they will come and take away the refridgerator or if we are interested in buying from samsung then they will give a purchase coupon .How the hell does something which has expected life of upto 10-15 years lost 75% value in just 4.5 years even with half of it still working properly? Can someone who is familiar with this kind of dealings help and also is the depreciation value given by samsung justifiable? We are planning on buying a new fridge so any recommendation on what to buy and what not to buy .5
