Drug use and Murder ?

Have seen a lot of people trying to blame drugs use and movies as the main problem in every murder happening in our society . Are these people really dumb or do they just want to divert the case and blame it on drugs instead of dealing with the real issues like any mental health illnesses or deeper issues in the society that we live in ? Whats your take on this ?
