Crashing to kanpur for 3 days on a budget. Need any and every opinion/experience.

Hi guys, I will be leaving for kanpur (for an mba interview) tomorrow night ( via train with waitlisted tickets and fingers crossed), will have to stay there for 1 night and other partial night (train at around 3 am). Need any and every tips/opinions/ experiences you have for me. Any new information is vital for me. I also am on a tight budget, so I wanted to see if I could also get a lodging for around 800Rs. I know going lower than that can do more harm than good. Will return via train as well, even for that I'm waitlisted so might take a bus (40+ hours) but atleast while going there I want a train to maintain my mental health. Thank you. Also do drop any safety tips as I'll reaching kanpur Central railway at midnight so how should I navigate from there or should I stay at the station until it's morning
