Siddhi Nath Temple Visit with Disturbing Reality
I never used to believe in God, but over time, as I made new friends and faced certain situations in life, my perspective changed. Today, I visited Siddhi Nath Temple, and while the temple itself was nice, the lack of civic sense among people was frustrating. I understand that women shouldn't have to stand in long queues, but what bothered me was the men who accompanied them skipping the line as well. When I went with my friend, she completed her darshan in 10 minutes, but I had to wait for an hour. She, too, was waiting for me, which wouldn’t have been necessary if everyone had followed the rules. Had there been proper discipline, I would have been done in 20 minutes instead of an hour. Now, coming to the main incident—something that really disgusted me. As we were leaving, my friend, who was wearing a kurti, was subjected to a group of guys making inappropriate comments. They were openly passing remarks about her figure and even discussing her virginity. It was beyond disgusting. What has happened to people? I treat her like my own sister. Some people come to the temple with their mothers and sisters, and yet there are others who behave like this. I’m beyond frustrated with the mentality of some people, not just at this temple but also in my college. I’ll be posting this on Reddit to bring awareness to how messed up things have become.5
