Need recommendations...

I am an SC dropper, aiming for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science in IIT Patna(I know it's a weird target, but yeah... it's true). The cutoff for the branch is around 970(sc rank). Seeing the marks vs rank analysis, I need to have a crl between 15k and 20k. So, if I don't get 90 percentile in mains january and only clear the cutoff for sc category(63 percentile last year, expected not to be above 70 this year), should I focus on advanced from February or April mains attempt?(I have Wbjee as a backup exam)
