Drop = Career Suicide?

I've been seeing that there is a lot of stigma around drop year in the JEE space, even though there are ample number of examples from both inside and outside the sub. Why is that so? Why do people here despise the thought of a drop/year loss so much? Note: I am a 12thie, not considering to drop or anything Jan went meh, 93%ile prepping for april and other exams, but I'm just really curious about this topic
