Born for IIT, Settled for a low tier private college

Im a 10th grade jee aspirant Whenever i ask for some tips ppl say that u will aim for iit coz u dont know the competition yet They say they also aimed for iits then aimed for nits then settled for a low tier private college Ik a guy who finished the entire syllabus in 1and1/4 yrs and got air 700 or something in jee adv The guys who talk abt this competition mostly started in 11th they got more than 1and1/2 yrs to prepare and they get rlly low ranks, then they say iits have less than 1% acceptance rate and stuff Also demotivates us saying that u will aim for iit nowdays but settle for low tier colleges like ours Like what sets apart the ppl who get to iit in 2yrs and ppl who settle for low tier colleges in 2yrs They both got 2yrs and very good coaching Why is it like that? And WILL I BE LIKE THAT TOO?
