What are your thoughts on CarryMinati's new video?
I just watched CarryMinati's Q&A video, and I feel like I might get hate for saying this, but the video came across as really disrespectful. Carry is a big creator who has undoubtedly received a wide variety of videos asking questions some good, some hateful, some bad, and some cringe. In his previous Q&A videos, he used to include some genuinely good questions. However, this time, he only added hateful and cringe-worthy videos, and the way he responded to them felt unnecessarily disrespectful. There might have been people who sent in videos without giving them much thought, possibly not even expecting to be included in the video. Yet, his jokes felt overly edgy and, in some cases, outright offensive. For instance, there was one guy who seemed to have a condition affecting his mouth, possibly paralysis, and Carry made a joke about it without hesitation. When you’ve built your audience by creating content that often involves curse words, it’s inevitable that people from less fortunate backgrounds will watch your videos. But that doesn’t give you the right to mock their financial conditions or physical disabilities and then brush it off as “just jokes.” What if the person he roasted was already being bullied at school, and now he’s been thrown in front of millions of people to be ridiculed further? It could easily make them insecure. As someone who was bullied a lot in school, I feel he should have been more careful with his jokes, knowing they can deeply affect someone’s mental health. And to the fans who might defend him by saying that those people were disrespectful to Carry: keep in mind, Carry is a creator. Of course, he’s going to have both fans and haters. That’s part of being in the public eye. But the people he roasted aren’t creators; they’re not accustomed to receiving hate comments or ignoring them. They’re just regular people, and his words can genuinely hurt them. (This is just my opinion. If you didn’t like it, your opinions are welcome.)4
