ITV tropes everyone pretends to hate but are exactly what ITV is missing now
I mean why ITV needs to imitate Kdramas, Turkish and Pakistani shows when its own shows once used to create splash in Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Afghanistan, South Africa and middle East? Instead of copying someone else, ITV can just begin again doing what it did best: 1. Ekta Kapoor ke draaaame: Inspired from just previous post of Janaki Devi's entrance in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, that distinct brand of Ekta Kapoor's maximalism is missing from ITV. Gul's shows are too much Wattpad-inspired and Shahi's shows are too much saccharine like Yashraj movies' forgettable movies like Mujhse Dosti Karoge, Main Prem ki Deewani Hoon, Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (though Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai was a lot better). But there's no movie (not even Karan Johar's) you can compare peak Ekta scenes like Aparna stabbing Onurag, Prerna running in pink suit to see Anurag's corpse, Tulsi shooting Ansh Gujral, Janaki Devi's entrance to. . . 2. Dramatic, OTT and wayy extra revenge arcs: No matter how much you pretend to hate, par kucch bhi kaho watching seedha saada Ranveer Vaghela returning as successful businessman RV after leap, Anurag Basu ka Bhoot tormenting his murderer Oparna, assumed deaths, plastic surgery or returning with same face after death: ye sab nautanki ke binaa ITV is not ITV. And now when the world is finally waking up to the glory and greatness of Spanish and Latin American telenovelas, I guess ITV audience will realise the wealth that we already had in the form of those extra ITV shows. . . 3. Separate bgm for each character: Female lead ke camera ke saamne aate hi Lalalalalala wala BGM, male lead ke liye whistling bgm, Mother character ke liye Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham wala BGM, villain ke liye Dhintanadhin dhintananana Komolika wala BGM. Emmy to nahi milega, par at least these shows won hearts. . . 4. Tashan wale faceoffs between lead and villain: Prerna vs Komolika, Anurag vs Bajaj, Karan Virani vs Ansh Gujral, Tulsi vs everyone else, Parvati vs Pallavi, Janaki vs Trishna and the fiery dialogues. Ab to hero heroine ko aapas me hi kalesh karne se first nahi milti. . . 5. Having one signature track for Jodi whose tempo changes as per circumstances: Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Ye for AnuPre, Thoda sa Pyaar Hua Hai for Kashish-Sujal, Kabhi na Sukoon Aaya for Prem-Mukti, Dil Ibaadat for Abhay Priya. While playing every new trending song as bgm for couple may sound alluring but having a permanent Jodi song makes a couple timeless. . 6. Focusing on other relationships of leads apart from the romantic one: Dekho, kucch bhi kaho Tere Saath Hongi Meri Duaayein wala BGM mast to lagta hai when male lead comes back from death and his mother does his Aarti. Similarly female lead can have a normal sister or friend who is not after her husband and their entrance together in the show vibing on early 2000s bubbly girlpop song was not that bad of a concept. Not everyone apart from leads in the show needs to be either a villain or the love story's biggest cheerleader. .1
