Everything in itv shows becomes about the leads

Like abhir's accident and him losing the ability to walk has become about abhira's turmoil/abhimaan's divorce. And this really is just one example,it happens across shows and has been happening for years if not decades(and may be now it has become even worse than it wad some years back,tell me if you think I am wrong) This has always been one of my biggest complaints with itv shows,everyone is used to highlight the leads and their pain or angst or whatever. And I don't want to be an abhira hater like you know who but if she starts crying, slapping herself and saying "it's all my fault" while her brother is right there then what is he supposed to think or do??
