Opinion: Every Indian has an uncle who claims he could have played for the Indian cricket team but “bas gharwalon ne padhai pe zor diya.” It doesn’t matter which part of India you’re from—there’s always that one uncle who, while munching on samosas, will casually mention how he used to hit sixes longer than Dhoni’s helicopter shot in his “college days.” But then, the tragic twist—his father caught him playing, took his bat, and declared, “Pehle engineer ban, phir Sachin banne ka sochna!” Now, the same uncle watches every India-Pak match with the intensity of a retired army general analyzing battle strategy, criticizing every shot, and ending with his classic line—“Agar main hota na, toh yeh match toh ek haath se jeet jata!” The only thing he has lifted with one hand in the last 10 years? A plate of biryani.
