Virat Kohli and the case of slipped disc
Koach hit his peak from 2016 to 2018, his performance started declining in 2019, and he finally ended his century drought by hitting a century against Afghanistan. However, it relapsed again in 2022. I think because of slipped disc, koach is hesitant to do anything that might agitate slipped disc, so I guess he usually avoids backfoot, sweeping, etc. I think he is also unable to respond to balls that turn or swing sharply. Therefore, I guess it's not easy for him to develop a technique to combat his weakness. I think it's easy to do it in short formats as you don't spend much time on the field, it's the longer formats that are an issue. What I don't understand is why is he chasing balls on 4th stump. When it's clear that he doesn't have a technique to combat it, he can just leave it. He needs guidance from technically superior players like Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara or even Stephen Fleming who has the ability to bring out the best in people1
