10 yrs of continuous test series wins against Aus...another streak comes to an end in the Gambhir-Rohit era
Gambhir was an amazing player but he has been a terrible coach. Letting Aus go from 311-6 to 474 with the new ball in hand is a sign of pure incompetence, regardless of conditions. The management hasn't come up with any proper bowling plans, and this team selection is very questionable. Everyone knows the most important thing in Test cricket is to pick 20 wickets and yet half of the bowling attack (Jaddu, Sundar and Reddy) consists of batting all rounders (in Aus conditions). Why has Ashwin been retired mid series? Sundar's a blooming talent but his bowling is certainly not at the level of Ashwin on pitches that aren't square turners. Some blatant favoritism has been shown to certain players, Rohit has not only continued to captain this series despite how disastrous he has been from the last few matches, KL's position and Gill's place in the team have been sacrificed to accomodate him. Kohli is somehow still in the team despite poor performances in the last 5 yrs (barring 2023). Rohit and GG have managed to bowl Bumrah to the ground, hopefully he isn't injured.4
