Subscribed to Acharya Prashant sessions, and now I regret giving them my number!
I’ve been following Acharya Prashant's teachings for a while, and his videos on YouTube really resonated with me. After a few weeks, I decided to take the next step and subscribed to his live sessions. The process required me to share my phone number, email ID, and other details, which I didn’t mind initially because I trusted them. However, I wasn’t prepared for the level of outreach that followed. After attending about 10-12 recorded sessions and a couple of live ones, I stopped engaging actively. There wasn’t any particular reason—I just felt like taking a break. But soon after subscribing, I received a call from their team urging me to make a donation of ₹1,000. As a student preparing for jobs and currently unemployed, I wasn’t in the best financial situation, yet I made the donation. What bothered me wasn’t the act of donating but the way it was handled. It didn’t feel voluntary—it felt like I was being pressured into it. When it came time to renew the subscription (which I later realized needs to be done monthly), the calls and messages started again. I understand the importance of follow-ups, but the frequency felt overwhelming. I explained to them that I’d renew it when I felt ready. Unfortunately, instead of respecting my space, they continued calling and even started lecturing me about my decision. The most recent call left me quite unsettled. They asked why I stopped attending sessions, and I politely shared my thoughts and requested not to be contacted repeatedly. However, the tone of the conversation quickly shifted, and I was met with rudeness. The caller even made a comment along the lines of, *“I’ll write it here that you don’t want to listen to the Gita.”* This left me quite shocked. I truly believe in the value of spreading knowledge and wisdom, and I have a lot of respect for Acharya Prashant's teachings. However, I feel the team’s approach can sometimes come across as overly pushy and intrusive. Everyone’s spiritual journey is personal, and I wish they’d give people the freedom to engage at their own pace. To anyone reading this: if you’re considering subscribing, I’d suggest being mindful of their outreach practices. I hope the foundation reflects on this feedback and adopts a more respectful and patient approach in the future. P.S. - can someone suggest me a better flair / tag for this post7
