Seeing Sunrise with HJB Girl and Her Magic
I went to meet her at HJB at 3:30 AM. My eyes were searching for her when suddenly, I felt a pat on my back and heard a cheerful "Hey!" It was her. What a smile, what energy she carried! It was as if she wore joy like an invisible cloak. I asked if we should order something, and we ended up getting tea. I never liked tea—in fact, I was considering Bournvita—but I took it anyway, just because she suggested it. For the next five minutes, we sipped our tea, engaged in slow, casual conversation. Then, out of nowhere, she said, "Let’s go somewhere." I had no idea where she meant, but I followed her. We walked, talking about random things, until we reached the lakeside. We found a bench facing Gymkhana and the lake and sat down. It was around 4 AM. I had never been to Gymkhana or the lakeside this late at night. The place had an eerie serenity—no noise, just the occasional rustling of leaves, the wind brushing past us, and the peaceful sound of water rippling. It was the calmest spot I had ever found in KGP. Now, let me tell you about her. Describing her just by her face or body wouldn’t do justice to her persona. It was the way she talked, the way she expressed herself, and her body language—curious and energetic like a child, yet mature and composed when she spoke. But I can’t help mentioning her long, dense hair. It was a little messy, but when she sat beside me, it provided just enough shade to shield my face from the moonlight. And, of course, no man can ignore the scent of a girl’s hair—XD. Her eyes, though, were the most captivating part. They had this light in them, making her seem so alive, unlike the stressed, exhausted, and hopeless eyes of thousands of KGPians. We talked for the next half an hour about life, literature, and love. She had a deep love for literature, and her ‘lahza’—her way of speaking—was uniquely poetic. She even recited a few shayaris, which I later Googled to understand fully. Then she said, "Just feel the moment," and we fell silent. We sat close, not intimately, but just side by side. Our heads occasionally leaned against each other’s shoulders as we watched the sky, the lake, the Gymkhana lights—everything felt surreal. I don’t know when I fell asleep, but she woke me up by gently ruffling my hair. And then, we witnessed one of the most beautiful sunrises I had ever seen. From the first red pigments of the sun to the golden rays spreading across the sky, it felt like a new hope was dawning in my life. I felt alive. I felt my existence. I don’t know if it was because of her or the atmosphere, but everything around me started to feel magical. Then, she said, "We should head back to our halls," and we left the place. Now that I’m back, I feel a little high—not intoxicated, but light, happy, and strangely content. For a brief moment, I even wondered if she had cast some kind of black magic on me. But don’t worry, guys—she’s not a Bengali manus. XD **PS:** As we were leaving, she casually mentioned, "I know a place. It’s even more amazing to spend time there. If you’re up for it, meet me at TOAT backside at 11:30 PM. I bet you’ve never been to a place like that." What do you think, what is that top secret place she knew? And should I go to meet her today considering tomorrow is my mid-sem paper?4
