Why did partition happen

As a Gen Z, I don’t understand why the partition of Andhra Pradesh happened. When my friends from Andhra ask about it, they often rant about the partition and demean our people, saying we can’t get jobs because we are inferior. I have nothing to say to them. Can someone explain in detail why and how the partition happened? Also, I would like some insight into why the Congress government decided to make this partition happen. Please don’t send hate—I don’t usually follow politics, but I feel the need to understand why this occurred.
