Whats suddenly wrong with cabs in Hyd?

I had been staying in Hyd for long and always felt it be a safe city. This time came via train and had to catch a flight immediately. I was trying to book an uber from Nampally station to airport at morning 4. Every time I booked a Sedan on uber, a random old city driver with broken alto appeared. The car model and number plate did not match but the drivers literally forced to start trip as they had my booking in phone. As soon as I denied they started fighting and asking for money to cancel. This happened 3 times in a row that morning. I took an auto and went home and then booked a cab. I have seen these kind of drivers on airport who claim to drop in private taxis for one third of the amount but now is this the condition in city as well?
