People Aren’t Keeping Their Word

Last Sunday, I booked a flat and paid one month’s rent upfront, agreeing with the owner that I would pay the remaining two months on March 1st when I moved in. Today, I went to clean the place, as it was supposed to be empty, only to discover that the owner had rented it to someone else for a slightly higher price. Shocked and frustrated, I confronted him about the agreement we had. Instead of acknowledging his mistake, he initially refused to return my money immediately, saying he would refund it after a month. That didn’t sit right with me. I eventually got my refund after some arguments. It’s disappointing to see people go back on their word so easily. Integrity seems to be fading—people no longer stand by their commitments, all for a little extra gain.
