My observations and analysis on brokers in Hyderabad
All of this information is something I wish I understood before I started house hunting in Hyderabad. I'm not gonna generalise anyone or come to a collective conclusion based off of just an individual opinion and experience. For context: we were two employed professionals looking for a semi/fully furnished 2BHK in and around Madhapur. 1. Brokers gate-keep houses from you. 2. They decide the sort of properties to show you. 3. Always make a contract PLEASE 4. You'll be judged based on what sort of clothes you wear, where you work, how you present yourself and the brokers show you properties accordingly. 5. Discuss everything and ask all the questions before making any decision. Be it rent, maintenance, social or dietary restrictions, whereabouts of the owner. 6. I've noticed a pattern where only the building 'manager' talks about the deposit and advance details. The owner is almost brought into the picture unless asked about. 7. Brokers have a 'recommendation' system(?!?!) they reduce the fee from 30 days to 15-20 days(negotiable) when you drop some names. 8. ₹500 consulting fee for showing 5 properties is crazy mad. 9. Girls/women, for the love of god, do not get into their cars when they show you around. Please get a two-wheeler or something for the time being. 10. They'll really corner and pressure you into getting you into a property, learn to talk/negotiate well. It'll be all done before even you realise. Do not show your desperation. Drop more in comments if you've come across something along these lines.1
