Hyderabad Customs Office (RGIA)

Hello everyone, My friend sent some gifts (bags, clothes, chocolates, and cookies) from the US to her home in Hyderabad via DHL. Unfortunately, the package is now stuck at the Hyderabad airport customs. Customs officials are insisting that she appear in person to open the box for evaluation. However, she won’t be traveling to India until April 2025. They’ve also denied her siblings the ability to collect the package on her behalf, even with a consent form. While she’s more than willing to pay any duties, the situation is urgent because the package contains perishable items (chocolates and cookies) that can’t sit in the warehouse for months. Additionally, the customs warehouse is charging hefty storage fees for every day the package remains unclaimed. Does anyone have suggestions on how to get the package cleared? Are there any agents or services that can help with customs clearance in such situations? We have all the required documents ready to submit.
