Feeling Lost in Corporate Life, Considering a Government Job—Need Advice
Right now, I'm working as a backend developer, but I don’t think I’m a good fit for corporate life. I’m slow when it comes to people skills and upskilling myself, and honestly, I have zero interest in this field. I’m only working because it’s the default path and money. On the other hand, I’ve been looking into central government jobs, specifically roles like an Income Tax Inspector. I know they aren’t easy to crack, but I feel they’d suit me better. In government jobs, I wouldn’t need to constantly upskill, and job security is much better. My main issue isn’t just upskilling—it's that I’m not as naturally talented as others, and I need more time to understand things. In the corporate world, I fear that someone more skilled will eventually replace me. So, I’m at a crossroads—should I stick with corporate life despite my struggles, or should I seriously prepare for government exams? Would love to hear from people who’ve been in a similar situation.3
