Auto Driver Scam
I will give you the whole story, so it gives context to what happened. So, I was coming back home after playing football along with my friend in an auto, the driver seemed really friendly and was having a nice chat with us. And then 1.5km before our destination he stopped and started talking in his phone, he acted all shocked and soon became teary. When we asked him what happened. He said his father had passed away, which we believed instantly since his tears and everything seemed so real. He then asked how far away was our destination we replied by saying 1.5km (which it was). He then proceeded to drive us to our destination. After we reached our destination, he just said some random shit and pointed towards his phone asking 3000 which was insane. Which made us instantly skeptical but didn't want to doubt it since nobody really wants to lie about their father's death and his tears seemed real. Then I said "I don't have much money on my account, I only have 300" ( I said this because i didn't really wanna be disrespectful and didn't feel like giving him extra money). He then said at least give me 500 I want to go to see my father, we live in Mahabubnagar. I said I can't give I literally have no money. He was telling me to call my father so he can send money to my account to give it to him (keep in mind I am 17). I felt kinda bad and decided to give him 400 including our auto charge which was 200. Then the realization started to hit when I was having a chat with my friend. His auto number, photo and name were not matching as on rapido. After searching on reddit about the same situation, we finally realized he successfully scammed us into giving him extra money. Just to others out there, who might potentially be scammed by being played on by their emotions dont fall for this trap like I did.(I know I was kinda dumb for believing him)5
