Death in Hinduism: Escape or Destiny?
Yes, in Hinduism, death is seen as part of a larger cosmic cycle—Samsara (the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth). Most people don’t want another life because existence in the material world is filled with suffering (Dukkha), attachments, and karma. The ultimate goal is Moksha—liberation from this cycle and union with the supreme consciousness (Brahman). Different paths are described to achieve this: Jnana Yoga (Path of Knowledge) – Understanding the self as Brahman. Bhakti Yoga (Path of Devotion) – Surrendering to a deity (like Vishnu, Shiva, or Devi). Karma Yoga (Path of Action) – Selfless action without attachment to results. Raja Yoga (Path of Meditation) – Controlling the mind and senses to realize the truth. People seek liberation because another birth means another round of karma, suffering, and illusion (Maya). The wise ones, as described in the Bhagavad Gita, strive to transcend this and reach eternal bliss. What are your thoughts on this ?5
