Will I get bad karma for reacting to my mother provocation?
My mother is an extremely provoking woman who will make a mountain out of a mole hill and if you argue with her she will say the most personal things that she knows will hurt you the most. She has extreme mood swings and will always try to start fights at home, if I tell her to stop fighting with my dad she will mock me and say I’m scared of my dad that’s why I tell her to stop. She can be verbally abusive and like a bully towards others and if I try to get in the way or stop it the nasty attacks come to me. Unfortunately no matter how hard I try there are days when she riles me up and I lose it and say nasty things back to her. I try very hard to stay out of it but I just can’t help but get involved when I see it going out of hand. I feel very guilty afterwards that I said those things to her even though I know that the things she said are hurtful and provoking. But I’m always worried that gods going to punish me for saying these things to my mother. What does the gita say about this? When she’s mad at me she will curse me too. I fear that I’m going to face consequences. It’s very hard to live in an environment when your patience is constantly being tested everyday. I want peace and apparently I’m a “coward” for wanting so.2
