Maha Shivratri Timing (US)
I’m a bit confused about which night to stay up for Maha Shivratri this year. I realize it is on the 26th but does that mean we stay up the night of the 25th that becomes the 26th at midnight? Or do we stay up the night of the 26th that becomes the 27th at midnight? I am in Midwest US in the Central Time Zone. My grandmaster in India is starting celebrations at 11 PM IST on the 26th which is 11:30 AM on the 26th in my time zone and means he’ll be staying up the night of the 26th-27th in India but the local temple in my town is holding celebrations the night of the 25th through the morning of the 26th. I want to make sure I am staying up on the correct night so if anyone could help me with clarity on that for central time zone, I would appreciate it! I know I will be able to attend the online celebration no matter which night staying up falls on here but I want to check out the local temple as well—though I’ll admit I’ve never been to any temple in person and I’m a little intimidated to go for the first time.1
