Is this cultural appropriation? (im an extremely insecure white guy)
So I made a Minecraft mod based of Record of Ragnarok, which includes Shiva and the abilities he has shown in the anime, from what i understand they portray Shiva the Destroyer accurate enough, as well his backstory lining up as much as they can with Hinduism, and frankly I'm kind of a Theology buff because I find religions/folklore/mythology really cool, and this got me interested in Hinduism, and in the anime Shiva is my favorite and I just think he is the COOLEST, plus it led to the previously stated interest in Hinduism, would it be considered racist to portray him, or have i just talked to too many super sensitive white people who think nobody but Mexicans can make tacos. Sorry if I was disrespectful to Hinduism in any of these i don't mean too and I don't know how people who follow Hinduism are but please do not murder me in the comments. Edit: thanks for the input guys I'm just making sure including this in the mod isn't super offensive to all you guys, and it's not Shiva himself its the abilities he has in the anime I'm including, and some of them are based off hindu things so I will do my best to portray these things in the respectful manor I can. And tho unlikely if there ever comes a day we're I have to include story aspects from the anime in this I will make it more accurate to the hindu religion than that did in record of ragnarok, I don't mean like a story line I mean if I add a godly dimension like thet have in the dimension, which a piece of might represent something similar to Urdhva Loka Hindu architecture wise Edit 2: from what I understand from u/Due_Refrigerator436 and u/IncompleteNineTails The Shiva in this anime is not at all the Shiva from the hindu religion, they are completely different characters and one happened to be extremely loosely based on the other. While I will be including him in the mod as he is an integral character, I will make it very clear in the mod page and the mod itself that this Shiva shares no relation to the Shiva from Hinduism, and should be treated as such, and make sure that this will not reflect negatively on the hindu religion in any way shape or form, like the anime mistakenly did. After talking to you all I have gained a great respect of the hindu religion, and am shocked by the comparison of the tolerance and kindness you all show compared to my own, and I am very grateful for that2
