I was curious about Durga but have no one to ask.
Sorry if this is not the right place to ask. I am an American who has have virtually no access to cultures outside of my country's imperialist/colonialist roots, and didn't know where else to ask. I stumbled across this goddess while looking at a what names mean site (associated with the name Maya?), then found [her wikipedia page](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Durga). That's all the reliable information I could find on my own. It was suggested I look at the [Devi Mahatmya](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devi_Mahatmya) but that's has a lot of context that's alien to me and it makes it hard to read and understand. I was hoping to get some recommendations for what to look at next. Specifically, I was hoping someone could recommend some short stories or beginner-friendly legends/lore involve or focus on her. I'd also like some accompanying philosophy of the time, that she either represents or represents the time, that can contextualize those stories to an outsider like me. I don't have the bandwidth for a full exploration into the giant topic of Hinduism at the moment, and was just hoping to use this character as a gateway into it. Thank you for your understanding.3
