About the author: Ramprasad Sen (1718–1775) was a beloved Bengali poet and mystic, best known for his heartfelt devotion to Goddess Kali. Born into a Brahmin family in West Bengal, he chose a life of spirituality over material pursuits, dedicating himself to the worship of the Divine Mother. His songs, known as Ramprasadi Sangeet, are filled with raw emotion, vivid imagery, and a deep sense of surrender, making complex spiritual ideas accessible to everyone.
