What is father spending money on

My father has a shop where he goes to almost everyday from 11 to 8/9/ 10 pm ( he makes his own times). He has since our childhood barely contributed anything to the household. He does shop for groceries but nothing else. My mom paid for our school/college fee, electricity bill, house repairs etc. My moms father got us the house in her name. I always thought its because he earns very less barely cutting the rent for his shop. He claims he makes rs2000 daily though, shop rent is around 12k. We (brother and me) have left the house and now its only him and mother in the house. But according to him he spends 40k monthly at least on groceries. We dont eat anything expensive - mustard oil, and fruit/veggies from mandi. He recently got my mother to buy him a car after selling the old one. He goes around in a scooty and has a car for occasional use ( he only uses the car to go to om shanti and to his village in UP sometimes). His father left him some property which sold for 15 lakh approx and he got it recently. Last month he withdrew 50k from there. Actually his contribution to the household didn't change a bit. He is still pinching pennies and wouldnt even get the RO repaired. Nearly everthing in our house is broken and needs repairs. So I am wondering what he is doing with his money. In case he is involved in something bad or bad habits I want to know. Have you heard of such cases. When we were young he used to drink alcohol, but doesnt anymore and I dont think so too. He is involved with om shanti now following my nani. Thats it. I really dont know anything else about him. Edit : also he collects around 20k monthly in rent from my moms property and pockets it.
