Sheetla Mata Mandir and Mahabharata
Someone asked about the connection between the two. For some reason, I am not able to reply on that thread, so here goes: King Shantanu, of the Kuru dynasty was once strolling through a forest where he stumbled upon abandoned twin infants, one male and the other female. King Shantanu yearned for his own children but couldn’t beget one, hence, he adopted the two. He named them Kripacharya and Kripi. Gurgaon was the village of Guru Dronacharya, the teacher of Pandavas and Kauravas, who married Kripi. Hence, the name GuruGram. So, the Sheetla Mata Mandir that we see today is dedicated to goddess Kripi a.k.a Sheetla Maa.1
