When I Abused Someone in Traffic and Realized It Was My College Professor
So, a few days ago, I had one of those mornings where everything seemed to be going wrong. I was already late for a meeting and stuck in one of Delhi’s infamous traffic jams. As usual, the driver in front of me was driving like they had nowhere to be, blocking the lane and causing a chain reaction of delays. I got so frustrated that I started honking and yelling at the car ahead of me, using every curse word I could think of. Suddenly, the window rolled down from the car I was shouting at, and the driver calmly looked at me and said, "Beta, calm down, it's just traffic." I froze. It was my college professor. I didn’t recognize his face immediately in the heat of the moment, but as soon as he spoke, I realized who it was. The man who had taught me countless lessons on patience and self-control in class was now the one I had been abusing in the traffic. I was completely embarrassed. I quickly apologized, and he just smiled, saying, “It’s okay, just take it easy next time.” Since that day, every time I find myself getting worked up in traffic, I think about that moment. Life has a funny way of reminding us that you never know who’s watching or who you might end up crossing paths with again.3
