My Jashn-e-rekhta experience
This was my second Jashn-e-rekhta visit and might be the last as well as the experience was bad. I have been a Urdu Literature reader since college so when I found out about Jashn-e-rekhta I was excited about attending it. Last year I was only able to attend the Young Poet Mushaira and Indian Ocean Band and it was good. This year I went on the day 2nd to attend the main Mushaira and Papon's performance. The Main Mushaira pannel was not upto the mark. Before this year the likes of Waseem Barelvi, Abrar Kashif used to perform but this year I can fairly say that the best poet out there was Charagh Sharma which says a lot. Add to that the absolute shitty seating arrangement. You pay 500 rupees to sit on the freezing ground watching the screen not even the performers. Fuck have some decency rekhta ek carpet bichha do. Uspe they had only 3 sets of toilets to tend to such a huge crowd leading to the big lines. The worst thing was that they didn't even care to add speakers to the common area so the sound quality was so bad for the common folks while the silver, gold and platinum guys had chairs and good sound system. This is so fucking classist, a festival celebrating the likes of Faiz doing this to people. The food, books and other stalls inside were looting people charging 4-5 times more money for same articles. There should be some accountability for such events. How was your experience?1
