Men dissing on Women Drivers
So, today my sister was on the driver's seat. She has been a proficient driver for last 10 years, drives daily to her work. Today while we were at MB road, we had a biker guy, without a helmet wearing an jacket of one of the most disciplined and esteemed Institutions in the country (i don't want to steer any pot here by naming that specific Institution) and a cap of a fauji print. Simple cap nothing else. We had been noticing this guy trying to jump red lights since qutub minar road and was trying to over take from the left amidst a dangerous traffic situation (if know about Mehrauli Badarpur Road you would know). And my sister would stop whenever she would see pedestrians crossing the road (happened twice while we were there). Now mind you pedestrians on this road are all labour class men and women and many drivers don't care if they get hurt or not. There aren't proper crossings or foot over bridge here for them. On top of it there were DTC buses which you know how make matters worse on the road. The second time when my sister stopped to allow pedestrians, it some how stopped this biker guy as well from jumping. While doing so he had audacity to hurl some abuses. Now my sister also within closed windows was angry didn't say anything but did say "dekh ke Chala na" like how girls would say. Now this guy stopped us from moving ahead, amidst the huge traffic tapped on the window, and said abh bol kya bolna hai, I feared for my sister (am a younger brother cant fight really), and this man had the audacity to tell my sister, "gaadi chalani nahi Aati toh mat chala". THIS when she followed all traffic rules and amidst the traffic where she wanted to allow some dignity to pedestrians. My take - the audacity of men to question women drivers when men are the reason for most of nuisance, rash driving on the road with no helmets, and the two wheelers and no traffic sense.4
