Had a Scary Encounter with Two Off-Leash Dogs and Arrogant Owners
Hey, I need to vent and get some advice. This morning, while I was out walking, I came across two women with dogs — one had a Pitbull, and the other had a Japanese breed I didn’t recognize. The thing that freaked me out was that **both dogs were off-leash** and not being controlled at all. The Pitbull was wandering around without an owner in sight for like 500 meters, and the other woman, who had the Japanese dog, wasn’t much better. She was acting super arrogant when I mentioned I was uncomfortable with the situation. I’m not anti-dog, but I genuinely get scared when dogs are off-leash, especially when the owners aren’t paying attention. I think pet owners have a responsibility to make sure their dogs are safe and under control, especially in public spaces. Is it unreasonable to expect owners to leash their dogs and make sure they’re not a danger to others? How do you deal with situations like this when you feel genuinely unsafe, but the owners don’t get it?1
