Got fooled by broker at Vasant Kunj - lost 5000 rs to him
I moved to delhi recently for my new job and was staying at my friends place while looking for a flat. I found a nice flat at vasant kunj and contacted the owner. Turns out it was the broker instead - who asked many questions on my background, what I do, where I work, married or single, my age and such and said its for security reasons and owner needs all details of ppl visiting - post that he had asked me for 2500 rs to get a visiting card made and he also asked me to bring a copy of my aadhar card, and passport photos when visiting the flat - at first i wasn't keen as I wanted to speak to owner instead, but he mentioned he is a very senior broker in this space with over 20 yrs experience and can easily get me a flat if I didnt like this one and convinced me. He told me to come over to the flat this morning and pay him ₹2,500 in cash to get the card prepared, which I agreed to. When I arrived, the broker Uncle mentioned he actually needed ₹5,000 for the visiting card and thats what he had communicated on phone and that I didnt hear properly. I argued a bit, but uncle calmed me down and mentioned that if I didnt like the flat, he can refund 4500 rs back - if i agree they will deduct the money from first month rent so it wont matter much I had the extra cash, so I paid him ₹5,000. He then took my money, ID proof, and photo copies and asked me to wait outside the building while he gets the card ready for me. He said he'd call me once it was ready. I waited outside for 15-20 minutes but got no call. I tried calling him, but he didn't pick up. waited about another 15 mins for him to come. finally i got impatient and went to gate and spoke to security guard who told me he never saw anyone go inside any of the flats and he saw the guy leave from the backgate instead. I asked if we needed any visiting card and he said yes, but they dont charge any money for it and the security guy sitting inside will give one to you if you provide any ID. He said there are some flats still left but he doesnt know the exact details of which flats. I became so mad. I tried calling him again, but no response and switched off. The property is not found where it was originally posted either when I checked again. I have been made a big fool by this broker..4
