Delhi and the Red Silk-Cotton tree
I fell in love with these last to last year (2023) when I was fighting a very personal battle in my life. I’ve seen these every year, but in that year, they reminded me of how someone could lose everything in life and still choose to blossom. These trees, also known botanically as Bombax ceiba, have established themselves as the epitome of resilience in adverse since then. I’ve associated the month of February with their beautiful flowers. However, half of the February is over and it breaks my heart to see that very few of these beautiful creatures have come to blossom. I used to have google maps list of the places where these used to blossom, so, my fellow Delhiites, will you be please kind enough to list the places where you see these flowers? Also, I cannot be the only person appreciating their beauty, if someone else has an anecdote about them, I’d be more than happy to read about it. There’s a little mythological story here for you all: https://www.amarchitrakatha.com/literature_details/the-story-of-the-silk-cotton-tree/?srsltid=AfmBOoonD4KnKsSCgcLNrQXyYo4ip2yp58uL6w5olP_pL6jrhaaoGLJU1
