settling down in mettupalayam instead of coimbatore?

IT student, will def move in with my parents, dad will retire in a few years, we have chosen CBE because of our family's proximity. CBE plots are somewhat overpriced. I will be the only earning member. My office will def be near Race Course road or near some IT park. Will it be a good option in travelling from Mettupalayam to CBE daily? I already spend 1 hour travelling in Chennai, so travelling 1 hour in CBE won't matter much. Is mettupalayam a good place? Looking for basic healthcare and grocery stuff that's all. Would it be a good idea in terms of security?
