  • Ride hailing apps overcharging.

Recently I saw a lot of posts complaining about Rapido/Ola/Uber bike/auto/taxis overcharging more than the amount shown in the app. A uber moto anna shared a hack with me. Try negotiating to a lesser amount if possible. I'm not justifying the extra amount, but with the charges Rapido is collecting from its riders, an extra of 10-15 for bike, 30-40 for auto and 50-70 for taxis are reasonable. Again, not justifying, just saying. Side note: Uber and Ola charge very low commission from its riders. So if they try to overcharge, fcuk them. If they're not compromising and you have to be somewhere urgently, instead of haggling, accept the amount. Pay the amount through online transaction. If they refuse online transacation, deny having cash with you. After the drop, give 1 star rating to the rider and raise a complaint with the grievance's platform of the respective applications. The extra disputed amount will be added to your wallet for future use. Side note: The riders will know where you live and if what I've heard is true, some auto annas are literal rowdies. Keep that in mind too. Another fix I have tried and tested is, pay through the application and say company paid for your expense and you have no extra amount with you. Uber and red taxi have great customer care service. So, you can expect the disputed amount into your wallet within less time. I don't know about Rapido and Ola. In fact, I have entirely stopped using Rapido after constantly being overcharged. I heard Rapido charges somewhere around 15-23% of the ride charge as commission. I also heard uber charges less than 5% of the ride charge as commission. P.S: Follow this at your own discretion. I'm not responsible for anything untowardly happenings. This is an educational post.
