Is TNEB a good job to earn than IT

Hi, So I recently got to connect with my friend's relative. He is working in TNEB in a very good position. He initially worked in Thermal plant for 20 years and moved to TNEB for 10 years now. He is still having years to serve. Now that he has bought many houses, lands and invested in gold as well. Also he will get lumpsum amount during his retirement. Now I am working in IT and having 6 years experience. I also earn good salary but I still doubt if I would be able to save and invest like this? Is TNEB really a good job over IT ? Please help with your insights..
