Would a Ching Lung's Franchise work in Chennai?
For those who are unfamiliar with Bangalore's Chin Lung, it's a chill everyday bar with solid food and cheap as fuck drinks (think 100rs a shot) and immaculate vibes. You can easily have briyani and beer for lunch under 300. The crowd is mostly college and young professionals. Definitely a third place sorta bar. Been thinking lately about whether a Chin Lung’s franchise in Chennai would work at all. The city’s got the right mix—college students, IT folks, and a growing number of people looking for budget-friendly yet vibey hangouts. Chin Lung’s affordable drinks and casual vibe could definitely fill the gap in Chennai’s scene. That said, casual drinking isn’t as mainstream in Chennai as in Bangalore. Most people stick to TASMACs or fancy pubs, so I’m wondering if a place like Chin Lung’s could carve out a niche. Do you think Chennai’s ready for something like Chin Lung’s, or would it be an uphill battle? Is the city’s nightlife scene too niche, or could this shake things up?1
