What is the best way to travel in chennai, especially in the outskirts.
My(M) college is in chennai, so during holidays or long wrekends I have to go to MGR station. While going home I usually book a cab to the nearest local railway station and then from there take a train. While coming back to my hostel its the same but vise-versa. This time instead of taking a cab I took the bus because it seemed bearable (Very little place to stand but not congested). For the first time in my entire life I had to pay fees for my luggage. At first the conductor gave me only one ticket but he pushed me aside, saw my suitcase and started shouting at me (I've lived here for a little more than an year so I can kind of understand tamil and speak a few verbs, so i understood that there was a seperate luggage fee). I can understand the need for a luggage fee considering the size of my suitcase but he spoke in such a rude manner that I wondered why i didnt just fight with an auto dude to take me to college. The worst part is yet to come. Every stop we stopped in the conductor pushed everyone yo the back and made more and more people get in to the point that the doors had to be manually closed ( This was an AC bus although the AC wasn't on ). Unfortunately at one point an aunty was in front of me and my hand was on what I can only describe as a puntured water balloon for nearly 30 mins. After 3-4 stops we were treated more as cattle than humans. A child was getting squashed in front me. I was suffocating. Everyone was yelling. Yet the conductor kept shouting at us to go back to let more people in. It was the seecond worst journey during my time in chennai. Tbf my friend , who had travelled in the same route by bus said that this was the first time it happened to her so it probably just that one conductor whos an **sh*ole. I can't even call chennai the worst city ive lived in considering most of my interactions have been with auto goons. Cab drivers on the other hand are the nicest people here. Inside the bus there was ass who kept shoving my guitar (I thought it was going to break) but on the other hand one uncle told me how long it'd take to reach my stop and even helped create space when i got down (without him I would still be on that bus and would probably die in that bus). TLDR : [I dont know how to use tldr] A bus i went on was so overcrowded to the point I nearly died.4
