Visiting Velankanni

I am visiting Velankanni on 31st will be going back on 1st evening. Can someone please recommend me a good clean mid range hotel to stay maybe near the church. Is it ok to stay in Nagapattinam then travel to church? Places to eat like the local food like a good local message where I can get good meat or fish etc. Things to do which beach is better Velankanni or Nagapattinam? Also bus services are there bus services at night.
