Terrible experience with an auto driver today.
I had a really unpleasant experience with an auto driver today, and I wanted to share it here. I booked an auto for a short distance of around 4 km and had some luggage with me. The bill amount came to ₹59, but the driver demanded ₹80 instead. I politely said, “Sorry, Anna, for such a short distance, I can only give ₹65-70.” But to my shock, he started swearing at me in Tamil—using the worst swear words you can imagine. It was beyond disrespectful. Just because I refused to pay an unfair amount, he thought it was okay to hurl abuses at me. Eventually, he canceled the ride. Why would someone behave this way? I understand that they might have struggles, but it doesn’t justify such rude and disrespectful behavior. Sadly, this isn’t the first time I’ve faced issues with auto drivers overcharging and being rude. Do any of you face this too? How do you deal with such situations?2
