My mom almost got scammed by Uber auto driver- please read TLDR
This happened to my mom, and I’m so mad at this. Today she was returning back home, and was trying to get an auto. Already had 4 cancellations because the drivers either didn’t want to come or were demanding a lot of extra money. Finally one dude came through Uber. Projected cost showed rs. 90 in my mom’s app and she was ready to give rs. 100. During the trip, the driver took a different and longer route that wasn’t on the map, despite my mom telling him not to do so. After trip completion, the auto driver said the final cost is rs. 140 and said it’s because of the route he took. He kept pressuring my mom to pay immediately and my mom was confused because she knew it shouldn’t cost more than rs. 100 (the trip was barely 3-4km). Despite his pressure, my mom decided to check her phone once again and it still showed rs. 90 on her app. When she confronted him and looked a little closely, the rs. 140 was from a previous trip! And after my mom scolded him he opened the current trip details to show rs. 90. THE SHEER AUDACITY. This is literally CHEATING! We did give a poor rating and report him- but is that going to change anything? They are resorting to new tricks everyday. :/ TLDR: When you take autos- make sure the trip cost on the driver’s app matches the one on your app.3
